Our Family

Hi. This is Veronica. I wanted to tell you a bit about our family.

I was born in Russia and worked as a medical/surgical nurse for a year and a half before coming to the United States.

Once I got here I had to re-earn my nursing degree. I accomplished this at Utah Valley University. I now work as a pediatric nurse to the cutest little boy with Down syndrome.

My husband is Darrin. I can honestly say that he is the love of my life. Darrin is a very hard working man, and even built our home himself. Darrin is also an excellent father to our children.

We have three kids. Two boys and a girl. We are working hard to be able to bring Katya home. It will be nice to have two boys and two girls!

George is 15 and growing into such a wonderful young man. He loves art, music, especially the guitar and drums. George is also working his way up in the world of martial arts.

Nicholas is 10, very smart and was born with a heart of gold. He loves science, engineering, and also attends classes in jujitsu.

Our youngest is Katie who is 4. Katie loves everything girly as well as the cars and trains her brothers love to play with. She is so excited to start preschool!

We learned about Katya from an internet article, written by a volunteer who has worked with Katya.

Katya's story deeply touch our hearts and we truly believe that we are meant to be her forever family. Making the decision to adopt is a hard one. The financial requirements are steep: $35,000 to bring our beautiful girl home. We have great faith that our Heavenly Father will provide a way to bring Katya home.

You may not know, but in Russia, a child with special needs, after reaching a certain age, is then put into a institution where their life span is about 2 years.

Can you imagine? This beautiful little one in a place where she will receive no education, no personal care? It breaks my heart.

So, that's our story. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them in the comments section!

  6. I have a question, because it makes no sense to me where you have such a loving family willing to bring Katya home why the agencies would not be rushing to make sure it happens. I hope she comes home to you soon!
